From 1st to 5th September 2025, Nakawa PVAC alongside the Kawempe, Lyantonde and Kampala Girls Cluster successfully conducted a five-day Parenting for Respectability training with staff members from Space Medium Youth Initiative, Echohearts Foundation, and Anchors for Women Uganda. The training was made possible with the support of the Children’s Rights and Violence Prevention Fund (CRVPF).
Objectives of the Training
The overall goal of the training was to strengthen positive parenting practices as a pathway to preventing violence against children and fostering respectful family relationships. Specifically, the training sought to:
Equip parents and caregivers with positive parenting practices that encourage non-violent child upbringing.
Examine different parenting styles and their effects on children’s growth, development, and well-being.
Provide a supportive platform for participants to exchange experiences, challenges, and best practices in parenting.

Key Outcomes
Throughout the five days, participants actively engaged in discussions, role-plays, and reflective exercises that deepened their understanding of parenting for respectability. By the conclusion of the training:
Participants had acquired practical knowledge and skills to guide parents and caregivers in their communities.
Each organization developed action plans to implement Parenting for Respectability programs, ensuring sustainability and community-level impact.
A stronger foundation was laid for collaboration among partner organizations under Nakawa PVAC in addressing child protection and family strengthening.
Way Forward
The outcomes of this training will contribute to the broader goal of reducing violence against children and promoting respectful and nurturing relationships between parents/caregivers and children. Nakawa PVAC and its partners remain committed to working closely with families and communities to uphold children’s rights and create safe environments where every child can thrive.
We extend our appreciation to CRVPF for their continued support and to all participants for their commitment to promoting positive parenting practices.
